Commmitment

I would like to say right off the bat that this word has caused me to go into hibernation. Not because I don't believe in it, but because of the worlds definition(s). The word commitment comes from the word commit. Now when you first hear the word commit, did you or did you not see yourself being locked up in an asylum? Granted there are days I feel as if I have been, this is not one of them though. I digress.

This word came into my awareness over the weekend. I have a few friends that are having personal issues and this word came up as how I could assist them. How does this word assist them? Well, here is my question to you. What does commitment mean to you? By definition this word means two things one: to give in trust. two: to send away. For me this is a paradox. Do you send someone away in trust. If so than how is this commitment?

Better yet does commitment only apply to relationships?
